How Congress Has Been Spending the Government Shutdown

Thanks in part to the government shutdown and in part to evasive political maneuvers, the U.S. House of Representatives has not been in session since September 19th. So just what have members of Congress been doing with their six-week paid vacation?

Here are some of the ways that legislators have been kept busy:

  • Really reconnecting with the family, especially the dog (32%)

  • Rediscovering their love of drinking and sleeping in (70%)

  • Alphabetizing their Benny Goodman records (23%)

  • Volunteering with ICE (7%)
