We’re back for another week! Scroll on to see last week’s winner and submit your captions for this one.
THIS WEEK’S CONTEST
As a reminder, here’s how it works: the following cartoon is an aging comic pulled from public domain archives and in desperate need of a new caption. Leave your funniest submission(s) in the comments—next week, I’ll award one winner a free month of Chortle’s paid subscription tier.
This week’s comic comes from the April 11, 1925 edition of The New Yorker.
Submit your caption in the comments!
LAST WEEK’S WINNER
Once again, we had a hilarious batch of entries. Here’s the original caption they were seeking to replace:
“There goes Old Doc Mutt. I understand that he uses nothing but roots and herbs.”
“Roots and herbs and barks—mostly barks.”
I’m giving this one a 5 out of 10. Solid punchline, but it’s a long way to get there.
Luckily, Chortlers came to the rescue—and one entry stood out as my favorite, coming via Jonathan Silver.
“Who cares about pedigree when you have a med degree.”
Congrats, Jon! Enjoy your free 30-day subscription.
We’ll be back next week with another cartoon. In the meantime… get captioning, people!
The new Weekend at Bernie’s animated series was VERY confusing.
"If it's your first time dining with us, we do things a little differently here."
