It’s been an unsettling few weeks for the Joe Biden campaign, and by extension anyone who doesn’t drink MAGA’s orange-flavored Kool-Aid. The president is currently the only thing that stands between America and whatever the hell Trump has planned if he wins in November.
In the abstract, it’s easy to say that Biden should step down, given his debate struggles and inability to reverse the subsequent narrative nosedive. But reality is complicated, and his bowing out of the race would raise as many questions for Democrats as it answers. And, of course, as Trump has proven repeatedly, no one knows anything and you can’t predict shit.
Nevertheless, let’s turn to the cold hard numbers to see if they indicate which path Biden should choose.
