Light as a feather. Blind as a bat. Hotter than Hell.

Sound familiar? Of course they do. We’ve all been recycling the same tired similes for centuries. However, the English language is absolutely bursting with creative comparisons to add to your metaphorical toolkit. Some of them might be as dumb as a rock, but others are perfectly legitimate wordplay that’s sure to impress co-workers and loved ones.

Here are some underused similes to help you sound smart as a whip (and twice as sexy).
